Black Box
A psychological science fiction horror, *Black Box* delves into the terrifying fragility of identity following trauma through the lens of a desperate father’s experimental memory recovery. The film isn’t simply about regaining lost recollections, but about confronting the unsettling possibility that the recovered self is a fabricated construct, progressively unraveling his perceived reality and fracturing his connection to his daughter. Fueled by a pervasive sense of disorientation and mounting dread, the narrative explores the ethics of technological intervention in the human mind, and the haunting implications of a self divorced from genuine lived experience. It creates a uniquely claustrophobic atmosphere not through jump scares, but a deepening, existential unease as the protagonist’s past – and present – become increasingly unreliable, culminating in a cathartic, yet deeply unsettling, confrontation with the truth of his condition.
