Dead Presidents
Following a disillusioning tour in Vietnam, Anthony Curtis returns to a fractured life in the Bronx and a suffocating cycle of dead-end jobs, leading him to a desperate alliance with childhood friends and a meticulously planned heist targeting an armored car transporting untraceable cash. Unlike typical heist films focused on adrenaline and spectacle, *Dead Presidents* grounds its tension in the raw, post-war trauma and economic desperation of its characters, woven with a melancholic exploration of lost innocence and the corrosive effects of systemic failure. The film doesn't glorify criminality but rather portrays it as a desperate act born from the betrayals of a society that abandons its veterans, sharply contrasting the valor expected during wartime with the harsh realities awaiting them at home. This is a strikingly grounded crime drama where the heist serves as a desperate, flawed attempt at redemption within an unforgiving landscape.
