From Beyond
A chilling science fiction horror explores the terrifying consequences of sensory expansion beyond the limits of human perception. Driven by a detached curiosity, a psychiatrist inherits a deceased scientist’s research into the “Resonator,” a device capable of stimulating the human sixth sense – with disastrous results. Unlike typical monster movies, the horror isn’t derived from a creature’s physical form, but from the increasingly grotesque *transformations* inflicted upon those exposed, and the unsettling implications of a reality bleeding through from an alien dimension. The film cultivates a deeply *unsettling* atmosphere through practical effects and a commitment to portraying the human body as disturbingly malleable, raising questions about the boundaries of self and the fragility of reality as familiar forms become monstrously alien. It’s a descent into visceral dread and existential horror, examining the inherent dangers of unchecked scientific ambition and the unknown realms beyond our comprehension.
