Cemetery Man
Francesco Dellamorte’s existence is a darkly comedic loop of bureaucratic dread and macabre duty as the caretaker of a small town’s cemetery, where the dead routinely – and inconveniently – return to life. This isn’t a zombie apocalypse, but a localized, bizarre phenomenon demanding a grim, repetitive response: Dellamorte must re-kill anyone who rises, fueled by a dwindling supply of aphrodisiacs believed to be the key to preventing resurrection. The film unfolds as a blend of slapstick horror and existential crisis, exploring loneliness and a desperate, absurd pursuit of normalcy within a fundamentally unnatural situation. It’s a uniquely whimsical and unsettling experience, where the grotesque is treated with playful detachment and the mechanics of death become a matter of routine, blurring the lines between horror and a strangely euphoric absurdity.
