The Little Hours
Set in a 14th-century Italian convent, _The Little Hours_ isn't a reverent historical drama, but a delightfully irreverent comedy of errors fueled by youthful restlessness and earthly desires. Three nuns – Alessandra, Ginevra, and Fernanda – grapple not with faith, but with boredom and a yearning for meaning beyond the convent walls. Their quiet lives are upended by the arrival of Masseto, a handsome servant in hiding, sparking a chain of increasingly absurd events complicated by a self-proclaimed prophet and a series of increasingly outlandish requests. The film finds humor not in mocking devotion, but in the delightfully mundane realities of desire and dissatisfaction within a cloistered world, creating a surprisingly relatable portrait of youthful angst presented with a whimsical, anachronistic sensibility.
