EVA
In a near-future grappling with the integration of androids into everyday life, *EVA* unfolds as a quietly contemplative drama centered on Alex Garel, a celebrated cybernetic engineer haunted by a past tragedy. Returning to his childhood home, Garel isn’t embarking on a typical engineering project; he’s attempting to build a robot child, ostensibly for a client, but driven by a deeply personal and melancholic need to recreate a lost connection. The film distinguishes itself not through technological spectacle, but through its intimate focus on the fractured emotional landscape of its creator, exploring the ethical gray areas of artificial companionship and the ways in which we project our desires and grief onto manufactured beings. The atmosphere is one of subdued longing, examining whether a synthetic embodiment can ever truly fill the void left by human loss or merely amplify the inherent loneliness of existence.
