Tideland
A young girl constructs an elaborate, surreal world within the decaying walls of a remote estate after being abandoned by her parents, lost in a cocoon of childhood fantasy fueled by half-understood adult realities. This isn't a whimsical escape, but a deeply unsettling and darkly imaginative exploration of isolation and trauma, where porcelain dolls become confidantes and the remnants of a broken home shift between terrifying and strangely comforting. The film portrays a disturbing, but strangely beautiful, descent into a child’s perspective saturated with neglect, offering a hauntingly melancholic, yet strangely resilient, portrait of survival built on delusion rather than hope. It's a uniquely unsettling and poetic experience - less a straightforward narrative and more a visceral immersion into a fractured inner landscape.
