What sets it apart
May contain story progression spoilers
Joel moves through his own disappearing memories during the erasure procedure, with locations and relationships transforming as recollection collapses.
The Lacuna procedure turns romantic regret and jealousy into a literal medical process of memory removal.
The relationship between Joel and Clementine is revealed through collapsing memories, temporal dislocation, and reordered emotional moments.
Rooms, streets, faces, and objects deteriorate or vanish as Joel's memories are erased.
