Pernille

Pørni is about the dilemmas that you end up in when you, to the best of your abilities, try to do the right thing for your loved ones, and yourself. In that order. Pørni has two daughters with a jerk of an ex who has moved to Copenhagen, who focuses mainly on himself.

Pernille (2021-2025) is a Norwegian dramedy created by Henriette Steenstrup and produced by Monster for Netflix and Viaplay. Henriette Steenstrup stars as Pernille, a single mother of two daughters whose self-centered ex has moved to Copenhagen and leaves her to carry the household. Her efforts to do right by her loved ones and by herself keep colliding with work pressures, money worries and the restless growing up of her teenage daughter Sigrid (Ebba Jacobsen Öberg). Ole Johan (Nils Ole Oftebro) and Leo (Jon Ranes) orbit her life as friends and figures from her past, adding friction and warmth. Each season unfolds across six episodes of everyday dilemmas, where the small compromises of parenting feel as consequential as any crisis. The series runs on a wry, sincere register: comic embarrassment sits beside real grief and tenderness, and the humor comes from people trying hard and often failing. Set in present-day Oslo, it follows one family across five seasons with a grounded, intimate feel. Fans of Fleabag, Shameless and Divorce will find resonance in its blend of bittersweet humor and domestic honesty.
