November Story

A celebrated crime novelist suffering from Alzheimer's is found at a murder scene with no memory of what happened. Now, it is up to his daughter to save him.

November Story (2021) is a Tamil-language Indian crime mystery series created by Indhra Subramanian for Disney+ Hotstar. Tamannaah Bhatia plays Anuradha, the daughter of a celebrated crime novelist, Ganesan (G. M. Kumar), who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and is found beside a murder scene with no memory of what happened. Anuradha must race to clear her father's name while navigating the suspicions of Inspector Sudalai (Aruldoss) and the tangled secrets of a small circle of associates, including Malarmannan (Vivek Prasanna) and Mathi (Namita Krishnamurthy). The engine of the series is simple and emotionally charged: a daughter piecing together fragments of a fading mind, with each episode peeling back another layer of the case and the family's history. Told in a single seven-episode season of roughly 36-minute chapters, it is a compact limited series rather than an open-ended run. The tone is tense and melancholic, with a quiet dread that grows from the intimacy of memory loss as much as from the crime itself. Fans of Memento, Drishyam and Broadchurch will find resonance in its blend of procedural pressure and fragile human vulnerability, set in contemporary Tamil Nadu.

• Mementoshared tense crime mystery with an amnesiac or unreliable central figure and family-driven investigation
• Drishyamshared Indian crime thriller tone with a family member racing to uncover the truth
• Broadchurchshared investigative mystery built around a fragile protagonist and procedural police pressure
