Mrs Playmen

Betrayed by her husband, a woman must step up and run an erotic magazine that becomes a symbol of empowerment in '70s Rome. Inspired by true events.

Mrs Playmen (2025) is an Italian national-television-style historical drama miniseries created by Mario Ruggeri, Eleonora Cimpanelli, Chiara Laudani, Sergio Leszczynski and Alessandro Sermoneta, released on Netflix. Carolina Crescentini plays Adelina Tattilo, a woman betrayed by her husband who must step up and run an erotic magazine. Filippo Nigro, Giuseppe Maggio and Francesca Colucci round out the principal cast as the people around her and the business she inherits. The engine of the story is her struggle to hold a provocative publication together while rivals, old institutions and private humiliation push back, and each episode turns on a new fight over the magazine's future and its public image. The series runs seven episodes of roughly fifty minutes, a single self-contained limited run. It is set in 1970s Rome, where the sexual revolution collides with a conservative society, and the tone mixes sharp period detail with defiance, melancholy and a rising sense of agency. Viewers who enjoy Halston and The Girlfriend Experience will find resonance in its study of a woman reshaping an industry built on sexuality and reputation.

• The Girlfriend Experienceshared period drama tones, 1970s European setting, female-led rise against male power structures
• Sapphire and Steelshared 1970s Italian setting, sexual liberation themes, and historical drama tone
• Halstonshared drama tone, a woman building an empire from a scandalous media business, rise and reinvention
