Supacell

When five ordinary South Londoners discover they have extraordinary powers, it's down to just one man to bring them together to save the woman he loves.

Supacell is a British Netflix superhero drama created by Rapman, the rapper and filmmaker, and streaming as a gritty, street level take on the genre. Set in contemporary South London, it follows Michael Lasaki-Brown (Tosin Cole), an ordinary man who must gather five ordinary locals who have discovered extraordinary powers in order to save the woman he loves. Sabrina Clarke (Nadine Mills) and Andre Simpson (Eric Kofi Abrefa) are among the principal figures whose lives tangle with the powers, alongside Rodney Cullen (Calvin Demba) and Tazer (Josh Tedeku). The engine of the series is the pressure of estate loyalty, gang politics and family obligation colliding with abilities that feel more dangerous than heroic. Each episode builds the story across a single season of seven episodes, with a serialized arc that carries the group toward a common crisis. The tone is gritty, tense and grounded, with hip-hop and grime culture shaping its rhythm and atmosphere. Fans of Top Boy, Misfits and The Boys will find resonance in its blend of street drama and superpowered stakes. The series is a two season run with its story still unfolding, and it suits viewers who want a superhero story with urban texture rather than spandex spectacle.

Audiences rate the British superhero drama mixed, with praise for its London grit and energetic take on the genre.
