Lies Hidden in My Garden

An ordinary housewife's life goes in an unexpected direction after noticing a strange smell in her backyard.

Lies Hidden in My Garden (2023) is a South Korean crime mystery miniseries created by Jung Jee-hyun and broadcast on ENA. Its eight episodes follow an ordinary housewife, Moon Joo-ran (Kim Tae-hee), whose routine life takes an unexpected turn after she notices a strange smell drifting from her backyard. Her unease pulls her toward the secrets of the neighbors and the wealthy families around her, with Im Ji-yeon as Choo Sang-eun and Kim Seung-oh as Park Jae-ho adding pressure from the other side of the fence. The engine of the story is the slow accumulation of small contradictions: a half-explained absence, a polished household that hides cracks, and a question that keeps growing heavier with every scene. Each episode peels back another layer of a buried mystery, building tension through domestic detail rather than spectacle. The atmosphere is claustrophobic and uneasy, shaded with melancholy and moral discomfort. Told as a single continuous story, it is a tightly bounded limited run rather than a long saga. Its mix of family drama and whodunit tension will appeal to viewers who enjoy the Korean prestige thriller tradition. Fans of Big Little Lies, The Girl on the Train and Sky Castle will find resonance in its class-conscious unease and secrets behind respectable doors.

• Big Little Liesdomestic suburban unease, murder mystery hidden behind respectable middle-class life
• The Girl on the Trainordinary woman drawn into dark secrets, slow burn domestic dread
