Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp

Making up for her sins in a past life as the evil princess Elise, Aoi Takamoto dedicates her life to saving people as a doctor. But a fatal accident cuts her atonement short, and suddenly, she's back to her previous life, 10 years before her death! Will her foresight and medical brilliance help her change her past ways and heal an ailing empire, or is fate doomed to repeat itself?

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp (2024) is a Japanese animated fantasy series adapted from a webtoon and produced for AT-X. Aoi Takamoto, reincarnated as the wicked princess Elise de Clorence, wakes up ten years before her fatal end and resolves to atone by practicing medicine. Voiced by Yui Ishikawa, Elise works against the clock to build her skills and reshape the fortunes of an ailing empire, with Yohei Azakami voicing Linden de Romanoff and Yoshimasa Hosoya voicing Graham de Fallon among the figures tied to the royal court. The engine of the series is simple: she knows which illnesses, political plots and marriage alliances will undo her, and she must use that foresight to change them before fate repeats itself. Each episode mixes clinical problem-solving, bedside care and courtly maneuvering, with marriage politics and family rivalries sharpening every decision. The single 12-episode season carries a warm, earnest and hopeful register, with a wistful undercurrent of regret. Fans of Ascendance of a Bookworm and The Apothecary Diaries will find resonance in its reincarnation premise, medical ingenuity and royal intrigue.
