Tour de France: Unchained

Through tears and triumph, this series follows several cycling teams as they compete in the 2022 installment of the world's most grueling bike race.

Tour de France: Unchained (2023-2025) is a French documentary sports docuseries created for Netflix, shot in the original French language. Its three seasons of eight episodes each follow several professional cycling teams through the 2022 edition of the Tour de France, the world's most grueling bike race. Rather than a single protagonist, the series keeps its attention on the riders and team staff who push their bodies through punishing mountain stages, crosswinds and crashes, and the strategy and rivalries that play out between squads. Each episode is built from race days, team briefings, and off-bike moments where athletes confront exhaustion, doubt and disappointment. Tone is emotional and immersive, with moments of tears and triumph balanced by the sheer physical spectacle of the peloton. Its access-driven, observational style will appeal to viewers who enjoyed Formula 1: Drive to Survive and The Last Dance, and to anyone curious about elite endurance sport. Season one is the strongest-rated of the run, while the series was canceled after season three, leaving its story unfinished.

Audiences rate the series positively, praising its immersive access to the peloton and its emotional stakes.
