Good Luck!!

A young, maverick airline copilot navigates love, ambition and workplace drama while struggling to prove himself worthy of promotion to captain.

Good Luck!! (2003) is a Japanese workplace drama series created by Yumiko Inoue for TBS. Takuya Kimura plays Hajime Shinkai, a young, maverick airline copilot who is determined to prove himself worthy of promotion to captain. Around him, Ko Shibasaki as Ayumi Ogawa, Shinichi Tsutsumi as Kazuki Koda and Hitomi Kuroki as Noriko Togashi form a circle of colleagues whose romantic entanglements tangle with office rivalries and the pressure of climbing the airline hierarchy. Each episode moves through cockpit preparations, crew politics and private confessions, so that professional setbacks and personal longings press on one another. The engine of the story is simple and human: a capable but unconventional pilot wants recognition, and every promotion, flirtation or quarrel tests whether he can earn it. Told over a single ten-episode season, the series is a self-contained run of one continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in a contemporary Japanese airline milieu, it balances light comedy with sincere romance and a wistful sense of ambition. Fans of Hanzawa Naoki, Hero and Suits will find resonance in its office-set blend of career stakes and romantic longing.
