Texas native Jamie King is an aspiring actor who heads to Hollywood in hopes to find fame and fortune in the entertainment industry. To support himself, he works at his Aunt Helen and Uncle Junior's Los Angeles hotel, the King's Towers.

Jamie Foxx plays Jamie King, a Texas native and aspiring actor who moves to Los Angeles hoping to break into the entertainment business. To pay the bills he works at the King's Towers hotel run by his Aunt Helen (Ellia English) and Uncle Junior (Garrett Morris), where his scheming and eagerness to be noticed keep getting him into trouble. Garcelle Beauvais appears as Francesca 'Fancy' Monroe, and Christopher B. Duncan plays the hotel's stuffy Braxton P. Hartnabrig. The engine of the series is Jamie's constant pursuit of a big break, colliding with the hotel's daily chaos of guests, staff squabbles and family schemes. Each twenty-two minute episode is a self-contained comic story rather than a serialized arc, and the show runs for five seasons. Set in late nineties Hollywood, it is a broad, breezy, family-friendly sitcom with a warm, lively tone and sketch-like energy.
