More about the show
Overview
A group of high-school teens are the products of government employees' secret experiment. They are the genetic clones of famous historical figures who have been dug up, re-created anew. Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, JFK, Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln and more are juxtaposed as teenagers dealing with teen issues in the 20th century.
Clone High (2002-2003) is a Canadian animated satirical comedy series created by Phil Lord, Bill Lawrence and Christopher Miller and aired on Teletoon. Set in a 20th century American high school, the show follows clones of famous historical figures who have been secretly re-created by government scientists and are now navigating the awkward trials of teenage life. Will Forte voices Abe Lincoln, who also narrates, while Christa Miller plays Cleopatra and Nicole Sullivan voices Joan of Arc, with Christopher Miller lending his voice to JFK. The engine of the show is simple and absurd: these iconic figures, burdened by their legendary pasts, chase ordinary adolescent goals like popularity, romance and belonging, while the school's scheming principal Dr. Cinnamon J. Scudworth (voice of Phil Lord) pursues his own secret agenda. Each thirteen-episode season is a self-contained run of cartoon escapades in which history's grandest names collide with everyday high school embarrassments. Its tone is irreverent, sardonic and gleefully surreal, mixing deadpan parody with sudden flights of nonsense. Fans of South Park, Drawn Together and Daria will find resonance in its cutting pop-culture satire and its affectionate mockery of both teen cliches and historical myth. The single season is a short, self-contained burst of cult animated comedy.
