The Fix

Comedians Jimmy Carr, D.L. Hughley and Katherine Ryan tackle the world's woes with help from a rotating crew of funny guests and an actual expert.

The Fix (2018) is a British comedy panel series created for Netflix, a single-season run of ten half-hour episodes. Comedians Jimmy Carr, Katherine Ryan and D.L. Hughley host the show, bantering through the world's most stubborn problems while a rotating crew of funny guests drops in each week. Statistician Mona Chalabi (who appears as herself) brings the data, grounding the jokes in charts and hard numbers so the hosts have something concrete to riff on. The engine is simple: each episode picks a global woe, unpacks it with an expert, and lets the team pile on with sharp, irreverent quips. Shape is a single short season of self-contained segments with no continuing plot, so episodes work in any order. The register is breezy, cheeky and topical, with satire aimed at politics and public life rather than at any one person. Fans of Have I Got News for You, The Daily Show and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will find the same blend of current affairs and quick-witted banter. The show was canceled after its only season, leaving the format unrepeated.
