Overview
Follow the exciting adventures of Arsene Lupin III, the grandson of the world's greatest thief, Arsene Lupin. Together with Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa and his love interest Fujiko Mine, he carries out the greatest robberies of all time, all the while evading the control of Inspector Koichi Zenigata.
Lupin the 3rd (1971-2022) is a Japanese animated crime caper series produced by TMS Entertainment and first broadcast on YTV, based on the manga by Monkey Punch. It follows Arsene Lupin III, grandson of the legendary thief, who carries out ever more audacious robberies alongside the sharpshooter Daisuke Jigen, the swordsman Goemon Ishikawa and his mercurial love interest Fujiko Mine. Their engine is the treasure itself: each episode builds a self-contained job around a jewel, artifact or fortune, then turns the plan into a chase as the crew slips past the dogged Inspector Koichi Zenigata. The series spans six seasons and roughly 300 episodes, mostly standalone capers with occasional longer arcs, and it has been revived in several eras. Its tone is breezy, irreverent and playful, with a stylish, jazzy sensibility and genuine action set pieces. Fans of Cowboy Bebop, Ocean's Eleven and The Pink Panther will recognise the mix of charm, larceny and cat and mouse pursuit that powers the show.
