Vexed

Comedy drama following a mismatched pair of police officers who disagree on everything with their partner, from policing to their personal life.

Vexed (2010-2012) is a British comedy drama crime series created by Howard Overman for BBC Two. It follows two mismatched police detectives, DI Jack Armstrong (Toby Stephens) and DI Georgina Dixon (Miranda Raison), who disagree about nearly everything, from how a case should be handled to how they run their private lives. Their partnership is the engine of each episode: they must solve a crime together while every decision becomes a point of contention. Supporting players including Lucy Punch as DI Kate Bishop and Ronny Jhutti as Naz Omar add to the workplace friction across a short run of two seasons and nine episodes. Each episode is built around a self-contained case, with the personal lives of the detectives providing a steady undercurrent of humour and awkwardness. The tone is sharp, witty and bickering, with a warm streak underneath the squabbles. Fans of Life on Mars, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Hot Fuzz will find resonance in its blend of police procedure, odd couple comedy and British sensibility.
