E! True Hollywood Story (1996-2014) is an American documentary series created for E! that revisits famous Hollywood figures, movies, television shows and public personalities. Each episode is a self-contained investigation into a different tabloid episode: salacious retellings of Hollywood secrets, show-biz scandals, celebrity murders and mysteries, porn-star biographies, and where-are-they-now checkups on former child stars. The engine of the show is the hunt for what really happened behind a famous name, assembled from in-depth interviews, actual courtroom footage, and dramatic reenactments. Because episodes are refreshed to reflect the current life of their subjects, older stories gain new chapters over time. The run spans sixteen seasons and hundreds of hour-long episodes, with no continuing storyline tying them together. Its tone is brisk, sensational, and matter of fact, leaning on dread and fascination with the dark side of fame. Fans of Hollywood Confidential, The Jinx and Biography will find resonance in its blend of celebrity lore and true crime storytelling, all grounded in the glossy, scandal-hungry world of American entertainment.

Audiences rate the series as mixed, valuing its gossip-driven celebrity retellings while finding uneven quality across its long run.
