A gURLs wURLd (2010-2011) is an Australian children's family comedy drama series co-produced with Singapore and Germany and broadcast on the Nine Network. Its central figure is Emma Schubert (Sophie Karbjinski), a young girl whose friendships come to life through an online chatroom that links her with peers in different cities and countries. Julie Wee plays Michelle Juan, Takaya Honda plays Josh Lee, and Marny Kennedy plays Ally Henson, each part of the shifting circle of friends who log on to talk, joke, and sort out everyday problems. The engine of each half hour episode is the small social drama of growing up: misunderstandings, crushes, family matters, and the pull of being far away from people you care about while still feeling close. Across a single season of twenty-six episodes, the series keeps its focus on female friendship and the lessons of girl power, with a bright, upbeat sitcom rhythm and a gentle, youthful warmth. Viewers who enjoy light teen friendship stories in the vein of Degrassi: The Next Generation or the gentle kids' comedy of Galidor will find a similar comfort here. Its tone stays sweet and optimistic throughout, aimed squarely at younger viewers and the families who watch together.

Audiences rate the children's series positively, valuing its light, friendly take on online friendship and girl power.
