Hemlock Grove

One cannot quench his all-consuming thirst. The other cannot tame the beast clawing its way out. In the sleepy Pennsylvania village of Hemlock Grove, two young men struggle to accept painful truths: about family, themselves, the mystery of the White Tower - and a terrifying new threat so powerful it will turn them from predators into prey.

Hemlock Grove (2013-2015) is an American supernatural horror-mystery series created by Brian McGreevy for Netflix. Set in the sleepy Pennsylvania village of Hemlock Grove, the story follows Peter Rumancek (Landon Liboiron), a newcomer whose own beast is clawing its way out, and Roman Godfrey (Bill Skarsgård), the wealthy scion of a powerful family whose all-consuming thirst sets him apart. Their unlikely friendship is tested as they struggle with painful truths about family and themselves, while the mystery of the White Tower deepens. Sheriff Tom Sworn (Aaron Douglas) and Dr. Clementine Chasseur (Kandyse McClure) investigate the strange deaths that ripple through town, and Olivia Godfrey (Famke Janssen) guards the family's secrets. Across three seasons and thirty-three episodes, the show moves through serialized mystery arcs rather than standalone cases, building a murky, gothic atmosphere of dread and bodily unease. Its tone is brooding and often harrowing, with a flair for visual horror and a Netflix prestige-style production. Fans of Twin Peaks, Teen Wolf and True Blood will find resonance in its small town secrets, monstrous families and forbidden loyalties.

Audience reception is mixed: the moody atmosphere and performances are appreciated, while the rushed writing and uneven storytelling draw criticism.
