Duck Dynasty

At first glance the Robertsons look like a typical Louisiana family who lives for duck hunting season. A closer look, however, reveals they live very well because of duck hunting season. The Robertsons own and operate Duck Commanders, which specializes in fabricating duck calls and decoys out of salvaged swamp wood. The company has grown from a mom-and-pop operation to a multimillionaire sporting empire, established in 1973 by family patriarch Phil (aka the Duck Commander) and now run by his business-savvy son, Willie. "Duck Dynasty" follows the Robertsons and their booming business, which also employs Willie's wife, Korie, his brother Jase and Uncle Si, a Vietnam vet and colorful character who keeps the guys in the workshop occupied with his many stories.

Duck Dynasty (2012-2017) is a US cable reality comedy series created for A&E, following the Robertson family of West Monroe, Louisiana. Patriarch Phil Robertson, known as the Duck Commander, and his sons Willie Robertson and Jase Robertson run a business that began as a mom-and-pop operation making duck calls from salvaged swamp wood and grew into a sporting goods empire. Cast members Korie Robertson and Uncle Si Robertson, a Vietnam veteran with a gift for tall tales, share the workshop floor, and their everyday negotiations, pranks, and family squabbles drive each episode. The engine of the show is the tension between building a booming enterprise and keeping family life intact, played out in workshop bickering, hunting trips, and holiday gatherings. Across eleven seasons and 131 half-hour episodes, the format stays unscripted and loosely structured, shifting from one situation to the next rather than following a single arc. Its tone is breezy, warm, and folksy, with a faith-tinged sincerity and easygoing humor. Fans of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Little People, Big World, and Swamp People will find similar resonance in its rural southern family portrait.

Critics were divided, with many faulting the staged scenes and folksy formula while acknowledging the strong family chemistry and comic appeal, and the show drew very large audiences across its run.
