Psycho-Pass

In the year 2113, people are given brain scans to determine how likely they are to commit a crime. Those who fail are apprehended, or even killed.

Psycho-Pass (2012-2019) is a Japanese animated cyberpunk crime series created for Fuji TV and produced by Production I.G. Set in 2113 Japan, it imagines a society where the Sybil System scans every citizen's mind and rates their likelihood of committing a crime. Inspector Akane Tsunemori joins a unit of enforcers who may lethally subdue those whose readings mark them as dangerous, and her moral footing is tested against the veteran enforcer Shinya Kogami. Each season is built from investigative case work, with suspects, criminal masterminds and bureaucratic cover-ups driving the plot forward across a continuing arc. The story runs over three seasons and forty-one episodes, mixing procedural detective work with action set pieces and sharp questions about surveillance and free will. The tone is tense and philosophical, with a bleak, neon-lit future that feels both sleek and oppressive. Fans of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Minority Report will find resonance in its blend of cyberpunk world-building and predictive justice. Its serialized mysteries and brutal moments reward close attention from viewers who enjoy thoughtful genre fiction.

Viewers broadly praise the cyberpunk world-building and investigative drama of the series, while the later seasons are rated somewhat lower.
