Devious Maids

The series centers on four Latina maids working in the homes of Beverly Hills’ wealthiest and most powerful families, and a newcomer who made it personal after a maid was murdered and determined to uncover the truth behind her demise, and in the process become an ally in their lives.

Devious Maids (2013-2016) is a US Lifetime soap opera drama series created by Marc Cherry. It follows four Latina housekeepers working in the homes of Beverly Hills' wealthiest families, including Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz), Rosie Falta (Dania Ramirez), Carmen Luna (Roselyn Sánchez) and Zoila Diaz (Judy Reyes). Their engine is a personal quest: after a fellow maid is murdered, a newcomer and the housekeepers determine to uncover the truth behind her death, and each episode threads that investigation through the daily dramas of the households they clean. The show runs across four seasons of serialized storytelling, with affairs, schemes and secrets rising from the mansions and their employers, most notably the Powell and Stappord families. Its tone is glossy and melodramatic, mixing camp, gossip and class tension with a sense of solidarity among the women who keep these homes running. Fans of Desperate Housewives, Dynasty and the classic Upstairs, Downstairs will find the same mix of polished excess, domestic intrigue and soapy twists. The series was canceled with its central mystery still open.

Audience reception is positive, with viewers rating the soapy Beverly Hills mystery steadily well across all four seasons.
