Overview
Inspired by the cult classic Tremors movies, locals attempt to coexist with the monstrous, man-eating Graboids, Shriekers, and Ass-blasters, which are now on a "protected species" list.
Tremors (2003) is a United States science fiction creature comedy series created by S.S. Wilson, Brent Maddock and Nancy Roberts for Syfy, a cancelled single-season run of thirteen one-hour episodes. Inspired by the cult classic Tremors films, it follows Tyler Reed (Victor Browne) and a cast of desert townsfolk, including Rosalita Sanchez (Gladise Jimenez), Nancy Sterngood (Marcia Strassman), Jodi Chang (Lela Lee) and W.D. Twitchell (Dean Norris), as they try to share a remote Nevada community with the man-eating Graboids, Shriekers and other burrowing monsters now officially listed as a protected species. Survivalist Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) brings a stockpile of weapons and a hair-trigger temper to the struggle. Each episode is built around a fresh creature threat, a clash with bureaucracy and the practical problem of keeping townspeople alive while the land itself turns hostile. The tone is campy and action-packed, with broad humor and monster set pieces. Fans of creature features and small town monster stories will find a familiar pleasure here, in the vein of Tremors and Eureka.
