The Devil Is a Part-Timer!

Foiled by a hero when he’s inches away from conquering the world, the devil finds himself in modern-day Tokyo. With no real-world skills to speak of, the devil is forced to make ends meet flipping burgers at a fast food joint! To stall any further plans of world domination, the hero tracks the devil’s trail and takes on the lowly tasks of a telemarketer.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (2013-2023) is a Japanese anime comedy fantasy series produced by White Fox and Studio 3Hz, adapted from a light novel. Its protagonist, the demon lord Sadao Maō (voiced by Ryota Osaka), is foiled moments before conquering the world and lands in modern Tokyo with no marketable skills, taking a job flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant. His ambitions to rebuild his power are stalled by the hero Emi Yusa (voiced by Yoko Hikasa), who follows him into the city and takes a telemarketing job of her own. Supporting principals include Chiho Sasaki (voiced by Nao Toyama), Shirō Ashiya (voiced by Yuki Ono), and the demon Hanzō Urushihara (voiced by Hiro Shimono). Each episode is built from workplace mishaps, rent troubles, and awkward coworker dynamics, while the larger rivalry slowly deepens. The series spans two seasons and thirty-seven episodes, and it is a light, breezy show with warm, sincere moments and a playful sense of reversal. Fans of KonoSuba, Gintama and Mob Psycho 100 will find similar comic energy and offbeat fantasy-in-everyday-life appeal.

Audiences rate the series positively, praising its fish-out-of-water comedy and character dynamics while finding the second season weaker than the first.
