The New Adventures of Old Christine

Single working mom Christine Campbell has just learned that her ex is dating a much younger woman with the same first name. To avoid any confusion, the new girlfriend is dubbed New Christine, which leaves her with the unfortunate nickname Old Christine.

The New Adventures of Old Christine (2006-2010) is a US network single-camera sitcom created by Kari Lizer for CBS. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Christine Campbell, a divorced working mom whose ex-husband Richard Campbell (Clark Gregg) has taken up with a much younger woman who shares her first name, leaving Christine stuck with the nickname Old Christine while the newcomer becomes New Christine (Emily Rutherfurd). Her engine is simple and comic: she wants to keep her footing as a mother, a professional and a single woman, while her own blunders, her sister-in-law Marly and her son Ritchie (Trevor Gagnon) keep knocking her off balance. Episodes are self-contained, case-of-the-week style domestic misadventures built around dating, office politics and sibling friction, with Wanda Sykes bringing sharp sarcasm as Barb Baran. The series runs five seasons across 88 half-hour episodes and carries a bright, breezy, wryly affectionate tone. Its warmth and self-deprecating humor will appeal to fans of Samantha Who?, Veep and Mom who enjoy flustered female leads in ensemble family comedy.

Audiences broadly rate the series positively, with later seasons generally well regarded for Julia Louis-Dreyfus's lead comedy and its sharp ensemble writing.
