Our People (Bizimkiler, 1989-2002) is a Turkish national-television family drama series created by Umur Bugay and broadcast across Show TV, Star TV and TRT 1. Over fifteen seasons and 459 episodes, it follows the Başaran family and the neighbors who share their street, with Erdal Özyağcılar and Savaş Dinçel as Şükrü Başaran, Ayşe Kökçü as Nazan Başaran, Engin Şenkan as Şevket Başaran, and Müjgan Ağralı as Mine Başaran at the center of the household. Ercan Yazgan as Cafer Haktanır and Mehmet Akan as Sabri Dönmez, along with Meral Çetinkaya as Ayla Dönmez, widen the circle into the neighborhood's shared life. Each hour is built from ordinary domestic concerns: marriages, rivalries, reconciliations, work, money worries and the small crises that ripple between doorsteps. The engine is the continuity of relationships, as characters pursue their own goals while their lives remain tangled with one another over more than a decade. The tone is warm and conversational, with a comforting, familiar register that suits a viewer returning week after week. Fans of Upstairs Downstairs, The Waltons and Eastenders will find resonance in its multigenerational ensemble and its patient, community-centered storytelling.
