Veritas: The Quest

Veritas: The Quest is a television program that aired in 2003. It follows a rebellious but intelligent teenager, Nikko Zond, discovering that his father Solomon's profession is much more mystical and adventurous than he previously thought. Solomon and his team search for the answers to some of the world's mysteries, a quest began because of the mysterious disappearance of Nikko's mother during an archaeological dig. Thus begins Nikko's fantastical journey into an Indiana Jones-style adventure with his father and his colleagues in trying to follow in his mother's footsteps to discover what strange secrets she was uncovering.

Veritas: The Quest (2003) is an American adventure series created by Patrick Massett and John Zinman for ABC, a single-season limited run of thirteen hour-long episodes. Ryan Merriman plays rebellious but intelligent teenager Nikko Zond, who learns that his father, Dr. Solomon Zond (Alex Carter), leads a team whose work is far more mystical and dangerous than he imagined. Cobie Smulders plays Juliet Droil and Eric Balfour plays Calvin Banks, colleagues who travel with the pair. The engine of the show is the disappearance of Nikko's mother during an archaeological dig, which sends the group chasing clues and ancient secrets across the globe. Each episode builds an Indiana Jones style hunt through relics, ruins and hidden histories, with the family's search for the truth about the mother at its heart. The tone is brisk, earnest and playful, with a sense of wonder about lost civilizations and the unknown. Fans of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Supernatural will find resonance in its mix of father son bonding, mythic mysteries and globe trotting peril. The series was canceled after its single season, leaving its central mystery open.

Critics found Veritas: The Quest an energetic, if formulaic, Indiana Jones-style adventure whose charm outweighed its thin mythology, and its cancellation after one season left the central mystery unresolved.
