More about the show
Overview
Three-part crime thriller. When detective Marcus Farrow looks into a seemingly forgotten case, he has no idea of the chaos and heartache that will soon follow. He is found at the scene of a murder, and with all the evidence pointing towards him, he is arrested and charged.
Prey (2014-2015) is a British crime thriller series created by Chris Lunt for ITV1. Across two seasons of three one-hour episodes each, it follows detective Marcus Farrow (John Simm), who reopens a seemingly forgotten case and suddenly finds himself at a murder scene with every piece of evidence pointing toward him. Arrested and charged, he must stay one step ahead of the officers hunting him while trying to prove his innocence. Detective Chief Inspector Warner (Adrian Edmondson) and detective sergeant Susan Reinhart (Rosie Cavaliero) lead the official pursuit, while David Murdoch (Philip Glenister) and Jules Hope (MyAnna Buring) become entangled in the increasingly dangerous chase. The engine is paranoia and heartache: every hiding place is a risk, every ally may be a betrayal, and the past he tried to leave alone keeps pulling him back. The tone is tense, bleak and propulsive, with a grounded contemporary British look. Shape-wise, it is a short serialized thriller with a strong central mystery rather than case-of-the-week episodes. Fans of Line of Duty, The Fugitive and Broadchurch will find resonance in its moral unease and relentless momentum.
