Dark Side of the Moon (2012-2018) is a Russian Channel One science fiction mystery series created by Olexander Tsekalo and Alexander Kott. Police lieutenant Mikhail Solovyev (Pavel Derevyanko) is a Moscow investigator who, after a fatal accident, wakes up in 1979 inside his father's body. Catching his breath in a Soviet militia office, he must work cases alongside detectives such as Oleg Dymov (Anatoliy Goryachev) while puzzling over how he got there and how to return to his own time. Katya (Svetlana Smirnova-Martsinkevich) anchors his life in the present, and the pursuit of a killer haunts each season. The show runs for two seasons across thirty-two episodes, a serialized narrative in which each case feeds the larger mystery of the time jump. Its late Soviet setting, with its bureaucracy, surveillance and quiet anxieties, gives the drama a grounded, melancholic and tense atmosphere. Fans of Dark, Quantum Leap and Lost will find resonance in its blend of time travel, procedural investigation and personal longing. The result is a brooding, intelligent thriller about a man stranded in the past, trying to find his way home.
