La Doña

A story of revenge and ambition, seduction and betrayal; all told from the perspective of an offended and abused woman named Altagracia. Altagracia represents the hundreds of thousands of Mexican women who have been victims of the violence by faceless men who are protected by impunity. But Altagracia, transformed into a strong-willed, ruthless man-eater known as La Doña, will seek out each and every one of these men to bring them to justice.

La Doña (2016-2020) is a Telemundo telenovela-style crime drama produced across the United States and Mexico, created by Carlos Villegas Rosales. Aracely Arámbula plays Altagracia Sandoval Ramos, who transforms into the ruthless, strong-willed La Doña after suffering violence and abuse, and whose ambition drives her to seek out each man who wronged her. Her journey is threaded with seduction, betrayal and calculated business moves, as she moves through the corridors of corrupt power alongside family members and rivals. David Chocarro, Andrea Martí and Carlos Ponce appear among the principal cast, and David Zepeda and Marisela González add further pressure from the opposite side of the game. The series runs across two seasons and 200 episodes, with each story beat advancing a sprawling, continuing revenge plot rather than standing alone. Set in contemporary Mexico, it is a melodramatic, heated, emotionally charged portrait of a woman turning victimhood into power. Its tone mixes soapy romance with hard-edged violence and themes of impunity and class division. Fans of Queen of the South and Narcos will find resonance in its crime-tinged female-led ambition, while telenovela devotees will recognize its operatic emotional intensity.

Audiences broadly regard La Doña as a mixed, melodramatic telenovela whose revenge story and lead performance carry it despite uneven plotting.
