Killer by the Lake

Three years after Vanished by the Lake, Lise and Clovis are now by another lake, in Annecy, and face the challenge of a new family life with their nine-month-old son Tom as the couple takes on a demanding new investigation.

Killer by the Lake (2017) is a French national-television crime miniseries created by Jérôme Cornuau for TF1. It follows investigators Lise Stocker (Julie de Bona) and Clovis Bouvier (Lannick Gautry), a couple returning three years after their earlier case, now by another lake in Annecy and trying to build a family life with their nine-month-old son. Their engine is the tension between the demands of a new investigation and the exhausting routines of caregiving, as each case pulls them away from home. Supporting performers include Julie Depardieu as Laure, Marie-Anne Chazel as Marianne Stocker, and Justine Le Pottier as Marina Cremer, whose roles widen the circle of suspects and family ties. The story runs across a single eight-episode run of roughly fifty-three minutes each, building one continuous investigation rather than standalone cases. Its tone is measured and somber, with a quiet lakeside atmosphere that contrasts domestic warmth with criminal unease. Viewers who enjoyed Vanished by the Lake, or fans of Spiral and The Bridge, will find a similar blend of european procedural rigor and personal strain. Set in the present day of its 2017 broadcast, it is a contained, character-driven thriller for viewers who like grounded mysteries with emotional weight.

• Vanished by the Lakefrench crime thriller tone, lakeside small community investigation, serialized mystery follow-up
• Spiraleuropean crime procedural with domestic family strain and investigative pressure
