The Worst Witch

Mildred Hubble is a young witch attending Cackles Academy. She's called the "Worst Witch" because she's always caught getting into trouble.

The Worst Witch (1998-2010) is a British family fantasy comedy series created by Michael Haggiag and broadcast on ITV1. Georgina Sherrington stars as Mildred Hubble, a young witch at Cackles Academy who is always caught getting into trouble. Felicity Jones and Katy Allen play Ethel Hallow, Jessica Fox plays Enid Nightshade, and Kate Duchene plays the strict Miss Constance Hardbroom, the school's stern teacher. Each episode follows Mildred's spell mishaps and clashes with classmates and staff, and the stakes stay small and personal, centered on school rules, friendships, and rivalries rather than a larger mythology. The series runs three seasons and thirty-nine episodes, a self-contained episodic format with light running threads. It is set in a magical school in an invented rural British world, with cosy, whimsical atmosphere and a wholesome warmth. Its gentle comedy and charming friendships make it an easy watch. Fans of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Worzel Gummidge will find resonance in its blend of childhood mischief, magic, and school life.

Reviewers generally regard the series as a warm, charming family comedy whose gentle humour and likeable young cast suit its young audience.
