Eternal Love of Dream (2020) is a Chinese xianxia fantasy romance series produced for Tencent Video, adapted from a popular web novel. Princess Bai Fengjiu (Dilraba Dilmurat) is rescued from a monster attack by the ancient Emperor Dong Hua (Gao Weiguang), and to repay her debt she follows him on his ceaseless campaigns against evil. Her gratitude slowly turns into romantic longing, while Dong Hua, after a hundred thousand years of fighting, has nearly forgotten what love means. Principal supporting figures include Yan Chiwu (Liu Ruilin), Si Ming (Wang Xiao) and Baron Chen as the Phoenix Immortal, whose entanglements add rivalry and shifting loyalties. The engine of each stretch of the story is a pull between duty and the heart: a mission to resurrect a lost friend leads Fengjiu into a dream realm where she is trapped, and Dong Hua must come to her rescue. The show runs fifty-six episodes as one continuing serialized story set in an invented immortal world of palaces, demons and sword fights. Its tone is whimsical and melodramatic, mixing sweet tenderness with tragic separation. Fans of Eternal Love, The Untamed and Ashes of Love will find the same cultivation-world devotion and fated romance.
