Traitors

1945 London. Feef is seduced by a rogue American spy into spying on her own country. Her task? To uncover a Russian agent in the heart of the British Government.

Traitors (2019) is a British six-episode limited series created by Bathsheba Doran for Channel 4. Set in 1945 London, it follows Feef Symonds (Emma Appleton), who is seduced by a rogue American spy and pressed into spying on her own country, searching the heart of the British government for a hidden Russian agent. Keeley Hawes plays Priscilla Garrick, and Brandon P Bell appears as Jackson Cole among the principal players. The engine of the story is the tension between loyalty and manipulation: every contact Feef makes inside Whitehall risks exposing her, and every secret she uncovers pulls her further from the life she knew. Episodes unfold as tightly plotted espionage set pieces, with compromised relationships and shifting allegiances driving the narrative forward. The mood is tense, claustrophobic and morally grey, with a postwar sense of exhaustion underpinning the paranoia. Fans of The Americans, Bodyguard and Deutschland 83 will find resonance in its period spy atmosphere and its interest in the personal costs of deception.

Audience reception is mixed, with a modest rating of 6.6/10 from a small voter base.
