Astra Lost in Space

In the year 2063, eight high school students and a kid are flown out to Planet Camp, tasked with surviving on their own for a few days. But shortly after arriving, an ominous glowing orb warps them to an unknown quadrant of space, nearly 5,012 light years away. Now, the only way back home is a slow, dangerous trek across the universe—a journey that’ll test them in ways Planet Camp never could.

Astra Lost in Space (2019) is a Japanese animated science fiction series created for Japanese broadcast by Lerche and aired across several regional networks. Set in 2063, it follows a group of high school students and a young child who are flown to Planet Camp for a short survival exercise. Shortly after arrival, an ominous glowing orb hurls them thousands of light years across the galaxy to an unknown quadrant of space. Aries Spring (voiced by Inori Minase) and Kanata Hoshijima (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya) anchor the group, with Charce Lecroix (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki) and Zack Walker (voiced by Shunsuke Takeuchi) among the principal companions. The engine of the story is the long, dangerous trek home: each episode is built from scavenging, navigating hostile terrain, and facing unknown alien threats while tensions and loyalties shift within the group. The single twelve-episode season is a serialized space adventure with a mystery thread running beneath its survival beats. Its register is earnest and hopeful, with melancholic moments about distance from home and the fragility of friendship. Fans of Lost in Space, Land of the Lustrous and Star Blazers will find resonance in its blend of youthful ensemble drama and interstellar survival.

Audience reception is positive, with viewers rating the single season as a solid, character-driven space survival story.
