Civil Servant

This is a modern and exciting story about BIA agents in Belgrade who eliminate the most dangerous threats to Serbia behind the eyes of the public on a daily basis and lead the struggle in the labyrinth of domestic and foreign intrigues.

Civil Servant (Državni službenik, 2019-2022) is a Serbian national-television action crime drama created by Predrag Antonijević. Following agents of the BIA, Serbia's intelligence service, the series centers on Lazar Stanojević (Milan Marić), who leads field operations against the most dangerous threats to the country while Milojević (Nebojša Dugalić) and Bakrač (Radovan Vujović) work alongside him. Each episode follows the team as it tracks and eliminates dangerous targets in Belgrade, often in the open glare of public life while the agents themselves stay hidden. The engine is a constant pressure to act fast amid tangled domestic politics and foreign pressure, with surveillance, interrogation and covert strikes making up the bulk of the storytelling. Across three seasons of twelve episodes each, the series keeps its focus on a continuing thread of intelligence work rather than standalone cases, building a sense of a state under siege. Its tone is tense and propulsive, with a gritty, grounded atmosphere and bursts of violence. Viewers who enjoy Spooks, Homeland and Fauda will find resonance in its blend of espionage, political conspiracy and relentless action in a Balkan setting.
