Blown Away

Ten master artists turn up the heat in glassblowing sculpture challenges for the chance to win $60,000 in prizes and the title of champion.

Blown Away (2019-2024) is a Canadian reality competition series created for Makeful and Netflix, produced by Blue Ant Media and Marblemedia. Ten master artists work through glassblowing sculpture challenges, each episode pressing them to shape molten glass under demanding briefs in pursuit of a $60,000 prize and the title of champion. Host Nick Uhas and judge Katharine Gray guide the contest, while Hunter March and a rotating roster of guest judges, including Bobby Berk, Michel Germain, Stephen Weatherly, Sunny Fong, Janusz Pozniak, Patrick Primeau and Alexander Rosenberg, weigh in on the work. Across four seasons of ten episodes each, the format stays rooted in the workshop, with each round building toward a judged verdict and a ranking of craft. The tone is upbeat and warm, with a family friendly pace that suits casual viewing and fans of the artisan craft competitions in the vein of Great British Bake Off and Making It. Viewers who enjoy watching skill and patience turn raw material into something striking will find this a pleasant, low-stakes showcase of artistry.
