October Faction

Monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen tangle with evil ... and family drama with their teenage twins. From the comics by Steve Niles and Damien Worm.

October Faction (2020) is a United States Netflix supernatural horror series created by Damian Kindler, adapted from the comics by Steve Niles and Damien Worm. Monster hunters Fred Allen (J.C. MacKenzie) and Deloris Allen (Tamara Taylor) tangle with evil forces threatening their small town while trying to hold together a household that includes their teenage twins, Viv Allen (Aurora Burghart) and Geoff Allen (Gabriel Darku). The engine of the show is the collision between the hunt and domestic life: a parent's fight against monsters spills into school runs, secrets, and sibling friction, so each episode mixes bloody encounters with quieter scenes of family strain. Megan Follows and Stephen McHattie add further principal presences to the family's wider world. The series runs for a single season of ten episodes, a serialized arc that was cut short and left its central mysteries open. Its tone is gritty and dread-filled, with visceral gore and a grounded, working-class sensibility. Fans of Supernatural, The Strain and Hellboy will find resonance in its blend of monster action, family drama and comic book roots.

Audiences rated October Faction modestly, with the single season viewed as a negative reception overall.
