Inspector Rex

A spin off from the Austrian series Kommissar (Inspector) Rex. Rex the Police Dog moves from Vienna to Rome to continue his career.

Inspector Rex (2008-2015) is an Italian crime procedural series created for Rai 1, a spin-off of the Austrian series Kommissar Rex. Rex the police dog leaves Vienna behind and takes up his career in Rome, working alongside human officers who rely on his instincts to track suspects and sniff out evidence. Across eight seasons and ninety-one episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, the show follows a case-of-the-week format in which each investigation tests the bond between the canine detective and his handlers. The engine is simple: a crime arrives, the team pursues the lead, and Rex's nose and loyalty often break the case open. Human partners such as Tommaso Bizzarri (Sergio Zecca), Lorenzo Fabbri (Kaspar Capparoni) and Katia Martelli (Pilar Abella) carry the investigations through varied urban locations across the Italian capital. The tone is warm, accessible and reassuring, with gentle humor and a family-friendly sensibility that suits Sunday evening viewing. Fans of Kommissar Rex and Hawaii Five-0 will find familiar comfort in its procedural rhythm, while anyone seeking an uncomplicated mystery with a lovable animal lead will feel at home here.
