Walt Disney Animation Studios: Short Circuit Experimental Films

If you could tell any story with the team of talented artists at Walt Disney Animation Studios, what would you create? Welcome to Short Circuit, an experimental, innovative program where anyone at the Studio can pitch an idea and get selected to create their own short film.

Walt Disney Animation Studios: Short Circuit Experimental Films (2020-2026) is an American animated short film anthology created for Disney+. Rather than following one protagonist, the series showcases the work of artists across Walt Disney Animation Studios, where anyone at the studio can pitch an idea and be selected to create their own short film. Each entry runs about seven minutes and is a self-contained story with its own characters, voices and visual approach. Voice cast includes Maddix Robinson as Noah, Samantha Stendal as Skylar, Bonnie Popp as Old Rae, Roy Conli as Old Bert, Chris Williams as Young Bert and Julia Butters as a little girl, among others. The engine of the series is experimentation itself: each filmmaker tries to tell a story that fits the studio's craft while stretching what animation can do. Across two seasons and twenty-two episodes, the mood is playful, warm and inventive, with a family friendly tone and a sense of artists exploring new territory. Viewers who enjoy Love, Death & Robots, Animaniacs and Paperman will find a similar appeal in polished animation and short form storytelling. The collection suits families and anyone curious about how animated films are made.
