The Sarah Silverman Program (2007-2010) is a United States cable sketch comedy series created by Rob Schrab, Dan Harmon and Sarah Silverman for Comedy Central. Sarah Silverman plays a character named Sarah Silverman, a comic whose absurd daily life unfolds in scripted scenes and original songs. Her sister Laura Silverman appears alongside her, and her gay neighbors Brian Spukowski (Brian Posehn) and Steve Myron (Steve Agee) are constant presences, while Jay Johnston plays Officer Jay McPherson, adding a dash of police absurdity. Across three seasons and thirty-two short episodes, the engine is simple: Sarah stumbles into unique, unsettling and downright weird predicaments, and the comedy comes from her refusal to read a room. Each episode is a self-contained run of sketches and musical numbers rather than a continuing story. The tone is irreverent, deadpan and deliberately uncomfortable, with a wry sense of its own provocation. Fans of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! will find resonance in its cringe comedy, self-mythologizing performer persona and willingness to make awkwardness the joke.

Audiences rate the series as mixed, admiring its absurd, offbeat sketch-like humor and Sarah Silverman's willingness to push boundaries.
