How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom

Suddenly summoned to a fantasy world and betrothed to the princess, Kazuya Souma is crowned the new king. Unlike the royalty before him, he won’t be using swords and magic to rule; will administrative reform really get this kingdom back on track?

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (2021-2022) is a Japanese animated isekai fantasy comedy broadcast on TOKYO MX and BS11, produced by J.C.STAFF. Kazuya Souma, voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi, is suddenly summoned to a sword-and-sorcery realm and betrothed to Princess Liscia Elfrieden, voiced by Inori Minase, before being crowned king. Rather than follow the violent, magic-first rulers who came before him, he pursues administrative reform, wrestling with budgets, trade, and institutions alongside allies like Aisha Udgard (Ikumi Hasegawa) and Juna Doma (Reina Ueda). The engine of the single season is simple: a pragmatic modern mind confronts a kingdom whose problems are structural rather than monstrous, and each episode unfolds as a run of policy problems, negotiations, and small practical victories. The series is a single 26-episode season of roughly 24 minutes each, with a light, witty, breezy register and a warm, hopeful undercurrent. Its fantasy trappings are played for comedy and charm, and the economics-minded storytelling gives it a distinctive, grounded flavor. Viewers who enjoy Re:Zero, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Konosuba will find familiar isekai comedy here, with a more deliberate focus on governance. The tone stays breezy and optimistic throughout.

Audiences rate it positively, appreciating its clever take on a summoned hero applying economic and administrative reasoning to rebuild a kingdom.
