Almost Happy

A locally famous radio host has to deal with his ex-wife, who he still loves, and his two children.

Almost Happy (2020-2022) is an Argentine comedy series created by Sebastián Wainraich, Hernán Guerschuny and Alejandro De Grazia for Netflix. Its protagonist is a locally famous radio host whose on-air charm deserts him in private, and the series follows his awkward attempts to deal with his ex-wife, whom he still loves, while raising their two children. Sebastián Wainraich plays the host, with Natalie Pérez and Santiago Korovsky as principal cast members anchoring the family scenes. The engine of the show is the tension between a man who can talk to thousands of listeners and cannot say the one thing he needs to say at home. Each episode of roughly twenty-four minutes is a self-contained domestic misadventure, stitched together by the ongoing unfinished romance and the chaotic rhythms of shared parenthood. The series runs for two seasons across eighteen episodes and sits within Argentine television comedy with a distinctly Buenos Aires sensibility. Its tone is wry, warm and self-deprecating, with flashes of bittersweet longing beneath the jokes. Fans of Louie, Divorce and Mi mejor enemigo will find resonance in its blend of intimate humor, flawed masculinity and messy family love.

Reception is mixed, with viewers mostly appreciating its candid, humorous take on divorce and co-parenting.
