Overview
Takato, Ruki, and Lee are children who have, by fate, received real Digimon, unlike the imaginary ones in the card game they play. Each of the children, or Digimon Tamers, have their different views on how Digimon should be treated. But when other Digimon begin to appear around Japan, they must put aside their differences to fend off the digital intruders.
Digimon Tamers (2001-2002) is a Japanese animated adventure series produced by Toei Animation for Fuji Television, set in present-day Japan. Takato Matsuda, along with fellow young Digimon Tamers Ruki Makino and Lee, has come into possession of real digital monsters, unlike the imaginary ones from the card game they once played. Takato's partner Guilmon and Ruki's partner Renamon are at the center of the story, with Masako Nozawa and Fumiko Orikasa voicing them and their young partners. The children disagree sharply about how Digimon should be treated, and their friction gives the show its emotional weight. Each episode pits the group against new digital intruders that keep emerging across the country, so the children must set aside their differences and fight together. The show runs as a single 51-episode season, mixing lighthearted kid-friendly adventure with a growing sense of danger and wonder. Its tone is earnest, action-driven and hopeful, with a hidden-world mystery at its core. Fans of Digimon Adventure, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! will find the same blend of creature partnership, team battles and childhood imagination. Its bright animation and monster-battle spectacle make it an easy watch for younger viewers and nostalgic anime fans alike.
