DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

This series examines the gruesome and horrific true crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer and the systemic failures that enabled one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade.

Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022) is a American true crime miniseries created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan for Netflix. Across ten episodes of roughly fifty-four minutes each, Evan Peters plays Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee serial killer whose crimes went unchecked for more than a decade. Richard Jenkins plays his father Lionel Dahmer, and Niecy Nash-Betts plays neighbor Glenda Cleveland, whose repeated complaints to authorities are ignored. Molly Ringwald plays Shari Dahmer, and Michael Beach plays Detective Dennis Murphy. The engine of the series is the slow accumulation of failures: each episode moves between the killer's routines, the families left behind, and the police who dismiss warnings about a predator operating in plain sight. Told as a single continuing story in one season, it shifts perspectives so that the viewer watches the damage spread outward from each apartment and interview room. The setting is 1980s Milwaukee, rendered in working-class streets and institutional offices. The tone is harrowing, clinical and mournful rather than sensational, with the look of a prestige anthology drama. Fans of Mindhunter, American Crime Story and The Staircase will find resonance in its grounded, detail-driven approach to real American crime and its consequences.

Audiences broadly rate the series positively, praising Evan Peters' performance and its attention to real events and victims' families.
